பொது ஆண்டு 12ஆம் நூற்றாண்டு

வீரன் ஒருவன் தன் இரு மனைவியருடன், ஒரு பீடத்தின் மேல், ஒரு காலை மடக்கியும் மறு காலை கீழே தொங்கவிட்டபடியும் அமர்ந்த நிலையில் (சுகாசன அமர்வு) புடைப்புச் சிற்பமாகச் செதுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளான். வீரன் தன் வலக்கையில் வாள் பிடித்துள்ளான். சிற்பத்தின் வலக்கோடியில் உள்ள மனைவி வாள் ஏந்தியுள்ளார். சிற்பத்தின் மேல் பகுதியில் கூரைபோன்ற அமைப்பில் வளைவுகள் காணப்படுகின்றன. பீடத்திற்குக் கீழ் நீர் / மதுக் குடுவை, குதிரை, பாம்பு, குடை பிடித்தபடி நின்றுள்ள சேவகன் ஆகிய உருவங்கள் காணப்படுகின்றன. இச்சிற்பத்தில் காணப்படும் ஆண் ஏதேனும் வீரச்செயல் புரிந்து இறந்திருக்க வேண்டும். அதன் காரணமாக அவனது இரு மனைவியரும் சதி என்னும் உடன்கட்டை ஏறித் தங்கள் உயிரை மாய்த்திருக்கலாம். இம்மூவரின் நினைவாக இந்த நடுகல் எடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

இந்நடுகல்லின் அருகே மும்மூர்த்திகளான பிரம்மா, விஷ்ணு மற்றும் சிவன் ஆகியோருக்கு ஒரே கல்லில் புடைப்புச் சிற்பம் செதுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. சிவபெருமான் நடுவிலும் , நான்முகன் அவரது வலதுபுறத்திலும், திருமால் அவரது இடதுபுறத்திலும், கரம்கூப்பி நின்றவாறு உள்ளனர். சிவன் லிங்கோத்பவர் ரூபத்தில், அணிகலன்கள் பல அணிந்தவாறு காட்சியளிகிறார். சிவனின் இருபுறமும் அரைத்தூண்கள் காணப்படுகின்றன. மும்மூர்த்திகளுக்கு நான்கு கரங்கள் உள்ளன.

இச்சிற்பத்தின் அருகில் அம்மன் சிற்பமும், வராகி அம்மன் சிற்பமும், பாதி உடைந்த நிலையில் உள்ள சிற்பம் ஒன்றும் உள்ளன. இச்சிற்பங்கள் அனைத்தும் பொட்டியம்மன் கோயில் அருகே, இடிந்த நிலையில் உள்ள, பிற்கால பாண்டியர் காலத்தைச் சேர்ந்த சிவன் கோயிலிலிருந்து கொண்டு வரப்பட்டவையாக இருக்கலாம்.

The sculpture is believed to be from the 12th century CE

In this memorial stone, a warrior is depicted seated in a sukhāsana posture (one leg folded and one leg dangling) with his two wives. The warrior holds a sword in his right hand. The wife on the right side of the sculpture is also holding a sword. Above the sculpture, a roof-like structure is carved with curving designs. Below the pedestal, figures of a water/toddy pot, a horse, a snake, and a servant holding an umbrella are seen. This memorial stone has likely been moved from another location and placed here. It seems that the man in this sculpture must have died after performing a heroic act. As a result, his two wives committed Sati (self-immolation) by climbing into his funeral pyre. This memorial stone was erected in memory of these three individuals.

Nearby, a sculpture of the Trimurti (the trinity) is also present. Here Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva are sculpted on the same stone in the form of a bas-relief. Shiva is in the center, with Brahma standing on his right and Vishnu on his left with folded hands. Shiva is depicted in his 'Lingodbhava' form, adorned with several ornaments. There are half-pillars on either side of Shiva. The Trimurti figures have four arms each. Close to this sculpture, there are also sculptures of Amman, Varahi Amman, and another partially damaged sculpture. It is believed that these sculptures were originally part of a later Pandya-period Shiva temple, now in ruins, situated near the Pottiyamman temple.
