இங்கு காணப்படும் கல்வெட்டு சித்தார்த்தி வருடம் வைகாசி மாதம் 22 ஆம் தேதி (5.6.1979), மேலூரில் உள்ள மில் ரோட்டில் இக்கோயில் கட்டப்பட்டதாகத் தெரிவிக்கின்றது.

நாகம்மாள் மற்றும் யானைகளின் கற்சிற்பங்களும், விமானப் பகுதியில் பூதகணங்கள் சிங்கங்கள் மற்றும் நாகம்மாள் சுதை சிற்பங்களும் காணப்படுகின்றன.
தல வரலாறு / கதைகள்
சுமார் 100 வருடங்களாக நாகம்மாள் என்று அழைக்கப்படும் இந்த அம்மன், அரச மரத்தடியில் வைக்கப்பட்டு வழிபடப்பட்டு வந்துள்ளது. பொது ஆண்டு 1979 ஆம் வருடத்தில் தான், இன்று காணப்படும் தற்காலக் கோயில் கட்டிடம் கட்டப்பட்டுள்ளது.

கூடுதல் விவரங்கள்
படிக்கட்டுகளுடன் கூடிய கருவறை அமைப்பில், ஒரு பீடத்தின் மேல் நாகம்மாள் சிலை வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. நாகம்மாள் தன் கைகளை அபயம் மற்றும் வரத முத்திரைகளில் வைத்துள்ளார். நாகம்மாள் மகுடம் மற்றும் ஆபரணங்கள் அணிந்துள்ளார். இவர் தலையின் மேல் ஐந்து தலை நாகம் காட்டப்பட்டுள்ளது. கருவறையில் நான்கு நாகம்மாள் சிற்பங்கள் காணப்படுகின்றன. கருவறையின் மேல் பகுதியில் சுதை சிற்பங்களுடன் அலங்கரிக்கப்பட்ட சிறிய விமானம் காணப்படுகிறது. நுழைவாயிலின் இருபுறமும் யானைகளின் புடைப்புச் சிற்பங்கள் காணப்படுகின்றன. கோயில் கருவறையின் பின்பக்கம் இன்றும் அந்த பழமையான அரசமரம் உள்ளது. அவ்வரச மரத்தின் கீழ் நாகர் கற்சிற்பங்கள் காணப்படுகின்றன.

Rituals like Ceremonial carrying of milk pots (Pāl Kuḍam), piercing the tongue or cheeks with spears (Vel kuththu), and Ceremonial Sprouting ritual (Mulaipaari) are performed.
Inscription / Copper
An inscription in this temple states that this temple was built on the 22nd day of the tamil month of Vaikasi in the Siddhārthi year (5.6.1979) at Mill Road in Melur.
Sculptures
Stone sculptures of Nāgammal and elephants are present. Stucco sculptures of Bhutaganas, lions, and Nāgammal are found on the vimana.

A small temple with a sanctum and a vimana.
Additional Information
The sanctum of this temple has been constructed with steps. The idol of goddess Nagammal is placed on a pedestal inside the sanctum. Goddess Nagammal is depicted with her hands in the abhaya (protective gesture) and varada (boon giving gesture) mudras. The goddess is wearing a crown and other ornaments. A five-headed serpent is also depicted above her head. Four other Nagammal sculptures are found in the sanctum. A small vimana decorated with the stucco sculptures can be seen at the top of the sanctum. Bas-relief sculptures of elephants can be seen on either side of the entrance. An ancient pipal tree still stands behind the temple sanctum. Under that pipal tree stone sculptures of Nagars (snake deities) can be seen.
